GBERA DIDE
Hey! 6 A.M. family, welcome to another episode of…. So cliché, right? Yeah, I thought as much, but HAPPY NEW YEAR is in order. I am itching to ask how you are doing, but I had already asked that in a previous post, so go back to it and answer the question.
I presume you have taken stock of last year, set goals for the New Year, and are pumped up to slay, fight and destroy every barrier/issues that may come your way this year.
The Year 2023 we have anticipated for so long! is finally here, and I KNOW that you had the first month in the year; to kick off all the remaining dust from last year. Happy new month, by the way, I know you are as excited as I am to start a New Year. Enough with the rigmarole, now to the business of the day.

A few months back, I watched the popular Nollywood movie "ANIKULAPO" director by the famous Director and Producer Mr. Kunle Afolayan. There... was a popular slang "Gbera dide" in the movie spoken by one of the lead actors. Although it has been before the movie, Gbera dide has gained popularity in many homes and it is a necessary call to action, especially in a season like the one we are in.
Gbera dide (Get up), Yes, you! I am talking to you. How long have you been down? How long have you slept? How long have you asked the question of how will it be? Though you ask these questions. Yet you have still brought the same attitude into the New Year. The "I will" syndrome has still not left your system. It is my turn to ask you questions, "For how long do you want to be at the point of not being good enough? For how long do you want to keep comparing yourself to others? How long do you want to keep setting standards based on another person's dream for you? For how long do you want to sleep "saying there is another day tomorrow to fight when 5 years have passed, and you have not left where you have been.
Hey, you cannot keep pouring old wine into a new wine skin.
You cannot keep making excuses. You were meant to stand out, My friend. You cannot keep hiding in the shadow of your friends or family. You were meant to build, so why are you letting people's disapproving eyes and words cause you to keep tearing down a structure that has not even taken shapes worthy of criticism? You cannot keep gathering knowledge and skills that you have never used. Get Up from that reading table, put the book aside, and get to work. Put to good use all the knowledge you have gathered. The same goes for seminar junkies, always hailing great speakers, almost stalking them, yet, you sit in every room wishing you are the one up there addressing people too. After that, you are back to telling yourself people won't listen to you, do not even get me started on the Lazy writers, those ONES have great ideas, yet they keep procrastinating their writing.
Put in one hour a day to achieve your goals. See how far you will go in six (6) months. You cannot afford the equipment to start, borrow, or rent if you must. Just Dide! Start from somewhere. If you do not know, know this now, you will not come to the awareness of so many of your abilities if you do not start doing certain things.
So what are you waiting for? Get up! Let's sip cocktails at the top, toasting a Job well done and milestones achieved.
