Our Personality is a vital part of our being as humans, it has an enormous effect on all areas of our lives, from the choice of food we make, from eating solid food, to deciding to eat just fruits, from our dress sense, our social cycle, the car we drive, the area we choose to build, buy or rent a house, or What we tell people we are, how we react to situations as well as how we read the room, all this sums up to what/Who we are or what the world calls us. Some people belong to the upper class, some the middle class, and others the lower class, but all of these are inconsequential in our discussion today.

Defining our person has been a major part of us from childhood, here, differentiations are made, and this stage will determine if we are loud, quiet, snobbish, playful, talkative, and so on; In the adolescent stage we get to choose the kind of friends we keep, and what our social cycle should look like. For Adults everything begins to align. This does not entirely rule out the change factor in which an individual was loud when he was young, but as he gets older he becomes quiet.

Too often We have asked ourselves numerous questions trying to understand who we really are or who we would rather be. Some or all of us grew with a template handed down from generation to generation. Some go ahead to rewrite that template adding new information picked up from numerous experiences and conversations with time whilst others stick to the status quo but all these decisions define who we are.

Having said the above let’s get into the deal of the day. Looking at society today I realize (correct me if I am wrong) that a lot of people get to determine their personalities based on the ideologies or perceptions of others. I get that in the mouth of two or three some truths are established but in the words of Steve Jobs “Don’t let the noise of other's opinions drown out your inner voice." Who you say you are supersede the opinion of others in your life. You wear the shoe and you know where it pinches as such you are in a better position to either raise your leg and also know how to place it when it gets to the floor or drag your feet to where you are headed.

Today, my focus is not on who people say you are, as that has been discussed over time, today my focus is on WHO YOU SAY YOU ARE. Will you speak when the whole world is silent? when no one is taking the lead, do you take charge or do you feel lost? Do you enjoy the company of others or are you always in the company of others because you think they will call you a social pariah if you do not show up? Do you force yourself to eat meals or spices that your system does not totally agree with just because all your friends usually order the same thing when you all go out and you do not want to be seen as the odd one out? Do you wear outfits that you are not comfortable in as that is what everyone is wearing these days or would you rather wear something you are most comfortable with? Would you keep being in a toxic relationship just because everyone says you look good together and you would rather not disappoint them than get out? Would you rather introduce yourself to an acquaintance with the name your friends call you even though you do not like the name but because they say it is a cool name? There are a lot of questions burning in my heart to ask but let’s stick to a few.

Many of us have forgotten the true meaning of happiness as we have all picked up a false sense of belonging, it is eating us deep. We keep enduring because we do not know how to get out, this is for those who have never taken time out to think of themselves and what they would rather have. It is even worse for those who do not have any idea of who or what they will rather be. They have spent years following in other people's footsteps so much that when the said individual fails they also make the same mistake because they are now a carbon copy of their mentor.

God did not create us the same, even identical twins do not have the same mannerisms how much more you who was born alone? I ask again WHO EXACTLY ARE YOU? Away from the noise, away from the public, away from your parents, colleges as well as social media. I leave you to ponder on this till I come your away again because I also need to take time to answer this question for myself.

Till next time stay TRUE, stay YOU.
